The Health Equity Education and Leadership Program (HEEAL) IT Up was implemented in a Norfolk community to train students 12 - 18 years old to become the next generation of leaders in the neighborhood. Students were trained using the Project Share curriculum aims to build middle and high school students' skills to reduce health disparities at the personal, family and community level. The curriculum aligns with national health education standards and is used in diverse settings nationwide and consists of six modules. The curriculum consists of modules containing up to five lessons and is accompanied by experiential learning activities.
